Bomb the Canvas reloads for a third year, bringing graffiti drips, arrows and hip-hop caricatures to the legal space of gallery walls. The three-day party kicks off tonight at STOVE (114 Morningside NE) and roams all over the city, with musical performances, break battles, MC battles, giveaways and cash prizes. Then, the Manifest Collective will install a graffiti-based show at STOVE on Friday, Oct. 3, with work from seven contemporary artists from New Mexico, Chicago and Denver. Fri Oct 3: Art for Change
Both the spare and paradigm-shifting kind. Filmmakers, painters, sculptors, photographers, musicians and other artists from around the Duke City are joining together in support of Sen. Barack Obama's Campaign for Change. Tonight at 8 p.m., these creative minds will exhibit their artwork, enjoy libations from Tractor Brewing Co., and groove to music by Dru Glover and DJ Dirty at the Orpheum Art Space (500 Second Street SW). $10 donations will be accepted at the door and a portion of all art sales will be donated to Obama's campaign (in coins). 715-2602. Fri Oct 3: Circus Fyre
Fire Womyn has reigned as the biggest, baddest lady dance party in New Mexico for the last five years. Come out to toast a half-decade of red-hot mamas at Fire Womyn's Circus party, featuring the twisted feats of September Smith and The Gender Offenders, the music of Las Vegas' DJ Chris de Jesus plus DJ Anita and DJ Cali, and booty shaking fit for a queen. Fri Oct 3: Up with It, Then
An interesting fact about Up with People: When the group comes to town, it puts some elbow grease into established local community service efforts. Up with People will recruit volunteers for Albuquerque Reads, a program for teaching kindergartners to read; work with kids at Adelante, an agency that offers support to people with disabilities; and package food at Roadrunner Food Bank. The 107 ambassadors from 22 countries in the Up with People cast will perform inspirational songs at the Rio Grande Zoo at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. (MD)

Sat Oct 4: Inexpensive Trip

Catholic or not, we love our religious folk art. Flames of Hell lapping at a poor lost soul? A teary-eyed Jesus withering on the cross for our sins? Warms our hearts right up. This weekend's Santero Market, held--where else?--in Old Town, has more pious pieces to buy than you can shake Saint Christopher's stick at. Relief carvings, retablos (painted boards), bultos (3-D sculptures), crosses and relicarios (pendants) will be displayed for sale by their artists alongside live music, dance performances and more from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
